Why are people so afraid of getting older? I never understood this, I’m 46 and I still don’t get why people spend their lifetime worry about this, is it fear of dying? Some people die young, so that can’t be it. As I get closer to my 50s I’m embracing every single beautiful silver hair showing up in my head. I’m going to give you 3 reasons why I think people especially women fear aging more than we should?
When I was 15 years old people used to laugh when I’d tell them my age. Most of the time their comments were OMG you look 13. When I turn 21 I just wanted to show my ID everywhere I was so happy now I had proof to get into clubs and not sneak in hahaha but in my mind I was just being me, I really enjoy being me and having fun with friends. Really age was never an issue unless I was going to a night club.
There is a fountain of youth: It is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life, and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.
Sophia Loren
I remember this woman who was so concern about turning 40 (I was 26 years old) And I just couldn’t understand why, she looked strong, young, and beautiful. She was anxious and she was also getting a little depressed from what a friend told me. People are so concerned about their age that they forget to enjoy themselves at any stage of their lives.
Count your age by friends not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears.
John Lennon
3 reasons why people fear getting older in my opinion. This is based on hundreds of conversations with women all around me.
They will get ugly and wrinkled.
While wrinkles are something you can’t stop well unless you do botox for the rest of your life, which nothing wrong with that, it’s your choice. But what defines beauty? My grandmother was beautiful, courageous, strong, and powerful. Her wrinkles did not define her beauty. Same as my mother she’s kind and beautiful her wrinkles do not define her.
Memory loss and chronic pain.
At the end of the day, people have some type of illness no matter their age. Instead of or worrying about what could happen years from now. Why not spend it being proactive in your health to reduce your chances of being vulnerable to disease. How about working out your brain muscles to stop age-related memory loss like aerobic exercises. Doctors recommend walking 3 times a week. Make positive changes to your lifestyle and create new habits.
Old people are grumpy, lonely and always sick.
I know this lady who was always happy, dancing and smiling at every family event. The last time I saw her, she was still the same happy person even though she now has Alzheimer’s. She asked me 3 times who I was, smiling and jokingly said “My child I’m always forgetting stuff.” And asked me for the 4th time what my name was. Bless her heart.
My grandma died surrounded by her daughters and all her grandchildren. She was loved by everyone she met. I don’t think she felt lonely, she was strong and powerful but she wasn’t grumpy.
Spend your life investing in people by this I mean quality time with everyone around you.
Getting older is a privilege, not everyone gets that chance

Stop being afraid of getting older. Getting older is a beautiful thing. Remember your beauty is NOT defined by the wrinkles in your face and body or that as you get older you’ll end up being a grumpy, lonely old person.
I want to challenge you to live each day to the fullest, smile more, and love wholeheartedly. And above all love the person you see in the mirror a little more each day.
I want you to go on social media and let me know why you think people fear getting older
Know that you are the perfect age, Each year is special and precious, for you shall only live it once. Be comfortable with growing older
