My guest today is Monique Rhode born in the beautiful country of New Zealand, she has performed to audiences of thousands worldwide as a professional musician, she has worked on an album with some of the most well known spiritual teachers of our time like Thich Naht Hahn, Ekhart Tolle just to name a few. She lived out of one bag traveling the world for 13 years, including almost four years on a motorcycle riding through India alone. She is a master at teaching you how to calm your mind and live a happier life. I’m so excited about this conversation.
Self-love comes from within yourself, It’s really important to understand that no one can give you that.

She tells us the story about when the Dalai Lama first came to the west he was asked a question, in the first years before he became famous before Tibet was invaded in 1959 by the Chinese it was a completely isolated, the culture was isolated no one from outside was able to get in. He was asked how do people in Tibet manage low self-esteem? The translator had to ask the question three times because he couldn’t understand what self-esteem was. He said that in Tibet the first loving relationship you have is with yourself.
Low self-esteem is cultural is not a human condition if we are in an environment that is consistently telling us we’re not good enough that’s what we need to face because loving ourselves is the most important first step that we can do to having a happy life.
