My oldest daughter was about to start pre-K, she never went to daycare since my mother-in-law was babysitting both of my kids while my husband and I worked. Every Friday  after work I would take them to Barnes & Noble so they could play and “read” books. I would sip a cappuccino and get a few books myself.  After, they will go home with their goodie bags filled with books and, of course, my goodie bag was empty!

My favorite section at the book store was computer and business. It had been 3 years since I graduated with an AS in computer and the business. It had also been 2 years since failure of the business I opened with my business associate. But, I was determined to open a business. One day I came across Brian Tracy’s book “Change Your Thinking Change Your Life” in the self-help area of the store— it changed my life forever and this time I didn’t go home with an empty goodie bag.

I became a personal development junkie!!!

I opened an account at my local library, the kids really enjoyed our trips there. On one of his books Brian stated:

Your mind is your most precious asset. You must be continually working to increase the quality of your thinking. Turn your driving time to learning time.

My daily commute during rush hours was about 35 minutes. I was getting sick of listening to the radio. Podcasting was getting popular back in 2004 I’d occasionally listen to my favorite tech guys, but that’s another story I will soon tell you all about. I remembered Brian saying “You cannot save time, you can only spend it differently. Time, in a way, is like money. It can be either spent or invested.” So, I started borrowing audiobooks from the library. I became obsessed with them.

Never take the time you are giving for granted, it is your most precious possession. Like I always say: Life is a never ending school! Cheers to your success!
